‘Fly on the Wall with Dana Carvey and David Spade’ commemorates Chris Farley in all-star tribute episodes
On December 18, 1997, Saturday Night Live legend Chris Farley passed away from a drug overdose at age 33. As the 25th anniversary of his death approaches, “Fly on the Wall with Dana Carvey and David Spade” is commemorating the icon with 2, very special episodes. Farley’s friends, family, and former colleagues join this all-star podcast tribute to salute his life through memories, stories, and laughter.
In these episodes, SNL alum Dana Carvey and David Spade welcome the likes of Chris Rock, Conan O’Brien, Adam Sandler, Kevin Nealon, Bo Derek, Jim Belushi, Mike Myers, and Jon Lovitz. Farley’s family – including his brothers and his mom Mary Anne – also share fond memories with Carvey and Spade.
Farley joined SNL from 1990-1995. Some of his most popular skits included “Gap Girl” (with Spade and Sandler), playing a Chippendales dancer, and “The Chris Farley Show” sketch that parodied himself interviewing a variety of celebrities.
On the podcast, Farley’s former co-stars dished on why he was a such a likable guy and discussed his unmistakable talents. Chris Rock said that despite SNL’s highly competitive environment, there was no competition when Farley entered the room, comparing him to Michael Jordan. The episodes’ guests also speculated on the route Farley’s career would have taken today.
In addition to SNL, Farley starred in films like Billy Madison, Tommy Boy, Black Sheep, and Beverly Hills Ninja. Beverly Hills Ninja producer Brad Krevoy and Eric Newman (Tommy Boy, SNL) will also appear in these episodes. The 2-episode special will end with Sandler’s “Chris Farley Song,” which he said still deeply moves him today.
Past episodes of Cadence13’s “Fly on the Wall with Dana Carvey and David Spade” went behind the scenes of SNL with Lorne Michaels, Tina Fey, Fred Armisen, Sheryl Crow, Jimmy Fallon, and many more guests. This podcast will return for a new season in January 2023.
