Master Confidence Coach Kara Loewentheil presents “Unf*ck Your Brain,” a mental health podcast sharing tips to help listeners achieve goals, rewire the brain, and feel better. Episodes are geared toward high achievers, women suffering from self-doubt, anxiety, and imposter syndrome. Kara might give better life advice than your BFF, so check out her extensive list of episodes if you’re looking for self-help podcasts.
In weekly episodes, Kara thoroughly explains mental health concepts in a fun format and shares cognitive psychology tools along the way. Through science and feminist theory, Kara’s episodes are empowering and super-informative, as she shares insight from her own relatable experiences. BTW, Kara lovingly refers to listeners as her “chickens.”
Since 2017, Kara has released over 270 episodes, with the average episode running 45 minutes long. Check out topic-specific episodes in any order, and Kara will recommend which early episodes to listen to next for further information, since many subjects are interconnected and/or were covered previously.
Neuroplasticity is a beautiful thing, and humans can change their mindset! Kara addresses how to overcome social conditioning and negative self-talk. Episodes will unpack personal belief systems, people pleasing, body image, forming habits, and discuss the nervous system. This fall, Kara dedicated an episode to speaking about money and how she developed her brand with several guests. Other episodes dove into beliefs vs. doubts, creativity, self-love, self-worth, dating, and relationships.
Shorter, “Greatest Hits” episodes are often posted and cover topics like sexism, vulnerability, perfectionism, triggers, uncertainty, and goal-setting, just to name a few. A recent “Greatest Hit” explored “why focusing on other people’s thoughts and feelings is a losing game, and how to set yourself free by focusing on your own thoughts and feelings.”
On the “QA” episodes, Kara selects listeners’ questions and recently answered “how patriarchy f*cks with your brain.” Other listeners’ questions asked about phobias, rumination, taking ownership, diet culture, panic attacks, and more.
Kara was recently joined by motivational speaker Mel Robbins to discuss “The High Five Habit,” self-encouragement, and practicing self-kindness. Mel shared personal anecdotes about self-criticism and how she overcame the habits. In November, psychologist Dr. Shefali Tsabary explained her new book, A Radical Awakening: Turn Pain into Power, Embrace Your Truth, Live Free. This episode discussed overcoming belief patterns while staying true to yourself.
Besides the “Unf*ck Your Brain” podcast and authorship, Kara holds a B.A. from Yale and a J.D. from Harvard Law. Previously, Kara was a women’s rights attorney. Kara offers subscriptions to The Clutch, “a feminist mindset revolution” program featuring live events, bonus episodes, resources, coaching, and more.
The original concept for this podcast was called “The Lawyer Stress Solution” in 2017. Kara’s additional series is called “Outside the White Box,” co-hosted by Simone Seol, and is a podcast for life coaches and fans of self-development.
