Over the weekend, Ukrainians fought back against the Russians as detailed in “The Resistance” episode. Monday’s episode shared updates on the conflict, Ukraine civilians obtaining government-issued guns, and what the crisis looks like in Russia. The hosts were joined by Angus Roxburgh, a former consultant to the Kremlin, to speculate if those close to Putin will continue their loyalty during the conflict. BBC’s Liza Fokht reported from Moscow and interviewed Russians on their opinions of the invasion. The hosts spoke with Maxim Karaush in Ukraine. In Kyiv, Maxim’s wife and son were hurt when a missile destroyed their home last week.

On Friday’s episode titled “The Battle for Kyiv,” Olga Malchevska (with the BBC Ukrainian Service in London) explained that her family’s home was targeted. Then, Newsnight’s diplomatic editor, Mark Urban, joined the hosts for a discussion on Putin’s military strategy.

Dr. Patricia Lewis from the UN Institute for Disarmament Research appeared on Sunday’s episode to discuss if President Putin is using his nuclear arsenal to threaten the West or to diffuse conflict, and how NATO countries are responding. President Zelensky’s delegation was set to talk with Russia at the Belarus border, and Sunday’s episode shared the timeline.
