From ‘The L Word’ to ‘PANTS with Kate and Leisha:’ the two BFFs are doling out advice and chatting with guests
Kate Moennig and Leisha Hailey met almost 20 years ago playing best friends on TV show The L Word. Their co-star, Mia Kirshner, noticed the duo did everything together as real-life best friends and nicknamed the two “PANTS” because you can’t have one leg without the other. Now on “PANTS with Kate and Leisha,” the real-life gay BFFs are chatting on podcast episodes about their lives, doling out advice, and they’re joined by guests where anything is open for discussion.
Since 2020, the podcast has been going strong with over 100 episodes. Start the episodes in any order, running less than an hour on average. Aside from conversations with guests, Kate and Leisha will also recap episodes of The L Word. In a recent episode, they shared details from The L Word: Generation Q‘s new season.
The L Word cast members often join the podcast including Jennifer Beals, Mia Kirshner, Sarah Shahi, and Laurel Holloman. The L Word and Empire creator Ilene Chaiken joined an episode and was coined “everyone’s fairy gay godmother.”
Rose Rollins (who played Tasha Williams on The L Word) stopped by an episode to share about her new show Long Slow Exhale and when she will return to Los Angeles. They discussed why Alice (Leisha’s character) and Tasha broke up on The L Word.
Supergirl and The New Normal‘s co-creator Ali Adler joined the hosts to discuss how Ali co-founded the first lesbian sorority, how Santana’s coming-out story on Glee was written from her own experience, and the importance of gay representation in media. This episode delves into questions on art that shaped their lives, what some of their guilty pleasures are, and more. Alice’s character was based on Ali’s real life.
Kate’s cousin, Gwyneth Paltrow, joined the podcast to answer listeners’ questions and offer advice. Kate and Gwyneth shared childhood stories, talked about getting over exes, answered questions about not liking your friend’s partner, and spontaneous activities.
