Wedding season is here! 8 podcast recommendations to fill the small talk with any type of wedding guest
Wedding season is upon us and you know what that means! People asking us what we do for a living! Naturally, when we here at Podsauce tell people what it is that we do, they dive right into talking about their favorite podcasts and asking us about ours. So, we made a little guide about what podcasts we recommend to anyone who may ask at your next function.
Seeing old friends for the first time in a while? We’ll be recommending “Normal Gossip” in between our own gossiping. Has someone there been freshly broken up with? “Savage Lovecast” it is! An older gentleman? A history podcast like “World’s Greatest Con,” of course! Someone can’t stop talking to us about their true crime obsession? Oh boy do we have an arsenal of recommendations.
Check out all of the podcasts we suggest to every type of wedding guest below:

Normal Gossip
There’s no better time nor place for gossip than a wedding. Catch up on all the family drama, your friend’s drama, your friend’s family drama, total stranger’s drama, you name it! So we’re always going to be suggesting “Normal Gossip” to everyone we’re spilling all the tea with this wedding season. Host Kelsey McKinney and her slew of gossiping guests are just too good to keep to ourselves.

The Run: 2016 Chicago Cubs
As a society, we all need to come to terms with the fact that there will always be someone from Chicago at every wedding we attend. There is simply no avoiding it. Thus, when we inevitably meet this Chicagoan (who’s actually from the suburbs), we know immediately that we’ll be suggesting “The Run: 2016 Chicago Cubs” to them. Hosts Matt Spiegel and Roy Wood Jr. take us through their incredible, 108-year, losing-streak-breaking World Series win in this Audacy podcast.

Run, Bambi, Run
Just like there will inevitably be a Chicagoan at every wedding, there will inevitably be a true crime junkie, too. While “Run, Bambi, Run” has taken the podcast charts by storm and said true crime fanatic will have probably already listened to it, this Apple/Campside Media podcast about Laurie Bembenek is too good and too wild not to recommend.

The Twilight Effect
The people who bore witness to the original Twilight hype circa 2008-2012 are probably the main demographic getting married this year. And with the Twilight Renaissance not far behind us, there’s no better catch-all podcast for late-Gen-Zers/early-Millennials than Ashley Greene-Khoury (aka Alice Cullen) and Melanie Howe’s “The Twilight Effect.” The two are rewatching all five films and chatting up Ashley’s cast-mates in this ultimate throwback podcast.

World’s Greatest Con
Facts are facts: World War II history is to men as true crime is to women, so we know exactly what podcast to turn to. Not only that, but “World’s Greatest Con” is just pure storytelling gold. Brian Brushwood is an astounding host who uses his experience as a magician/not-criminal-con-artist to tell the story of how the Allied powers fooled Hitler and turned the tide of the second World War. And in the newer, second season of this podcast, he dove into the greatest gameshow scams of all time.

Savage Lovecast
There’s always someone at a wedding who has a little too much to drink and gets a little too TMI. Luckily, we have “Savage Lovecast” in our arsenal for when they start going way too in-depth about their sex life or gets way too emotional about a recent breakup. Dan Savage has been answering listener questions about sex, love, and relationships for years, so this podcast will definitely come in handy during those uncomfortable encounters.

Okay Sis
Maybe they’re not a true crime gal nor a Twilight fan like us – that’s okay, because “Okay Sis” always has our back. Scout and Mady touch on a little bit of everything in their hit podcast, from entrepreneurship to astrology to pop culture news. We’ve always got this recommendation locked and loaded for the highly driven women we come across at every wedding event.

Truth Hounds
“Truth Hounds” is for the quirky, wacky weirdos of the world (and weddings). If we’re feeling those quirky vibes from a wedding guest, we know for sure to suggest Kyle Mizono and Anna Seregina’s hilarious podcast. Sincerely sarcastic, these two will have you fooled into thinking you’re listening into an actual investigative podcast series, when in reality they are hunting for answers to the world’s most mundane questions.
