Fresh from winning an Ambie Award in the Best Fiction Podcast category, “Tejana” is a must-listen drama if you haven’t already tuned in. Start the 6 episode arc from the very beginning as the characters are unraveling mysteries and solving grisly crimes in Texas. The episodes are less than 40 minutes each, making this series bingeable in a day.

The story follows Texas Rangers’ Eileen Castillo, played by Stephanie Beatriz, the only Latina on the police force. Eileen excels at her job and finds herself untangling a web of lies while fighting the past and struggling with office politics.

A serial killer stalked the town two decades ago, and suddenly, crimes started again. They believe a copycat killer is on the loose with a spree in Austin. The original case is reopened. But is a copycat killer actually responsible, or was an innocent person convicted long ago? Is the same killer still at-large? Eileen grapples with scary memories she has attempted to avoid her whole life. Will her past jeopardize her career as one of the police force’s rising stars?

Among the dramatic events, there’s a poultry factory accident, malfeasance, and arsons aimed at politicians. Eileen bonds with the character Andy, had an incident with the character Michael Carbonara, and Eileen realized she was getting followed by someone. By episode 6, the Rangers must band together to help solve a harrowing situation. This series also stars Gabriela Torres, Jonah Platt, Marlaina Sims Powell, and Phil Lewis.

If you’re a fan of fictional crime podcasts like “Dark Woods” and “Hunted,” you might enjoy “Tejana.” Stephanie also stars as Wren Guerrero in the new, sci-fi space thriller “SOLAR” alongside Tony Award winner Alan Cumming, Academy Award winner Helen Hunt, and Jonathan Bangs. She also voiced Mirabel in Encanto.

“Tejana” is brought to you by Sonoro. All episodes are now streaming, wherever you tune into your favorite shows.
