‘We Stay Looking’ is a citizen sleuth’s scripted crime series based on HBO’s ‘Insecure’
Tenderfoot TV’s “We Stay Looking” is a scripted crime podcast based on HBO’s TV show, Insecure. The TV show was created by Issa Rae and Larry Wilmore, and the storyline follows best friends navigating the world as modern Black women. In the podcast, “We Stay Looking,” follow “citizen sleuth” Rose Cranberry (Terri J. Vaughn) as she solves crimes and investigates injustices. This series brings attention to issues in the criminal justice system and racial discrepancies covered by the media.
If you’re starting the podcast with Latoya’s saga, stream from the very first episode to find out what happened in the missing persons case, “Looking for Latoya,” and you can also watch a version on HBO. The first few episodes premiered in 2020 and tried to find missing 26-year-old LaToya Thompson. Rose interviewed those involved in the case and witnesses, ultimately sharing new details. By the end of the investigation, LaToya was found and sat down for an interview with Rose to share her experience.
Now, Rose is investigating different cases each episode. So far, Rose went to South Carolina to search for a missing baby boy who disappeared from a hospital. In another episode, Rose followed a voicemail lead and went to Michigan to look for a missing teenage girl. Rose dove into systematic injustices when reporting on imprisoned Atlanta resident, Dante Samuels, and walked listeners through the case.
