‘Beyond the Blinds’ hosts Kelli and Troy dish on celebrity rumors – the best of the ‘messy’ and which star had the most dirt
“Beyond the Blinds” hosts Kelli and Troy joined Podsauce to talk about their podcast that dishes on celebrities and blind items. Blinds are morsels of gossip and alleged tips submitted, sometimes anonymously, and spread mostly on the Internet. The hosts shared their approach to producing the podcast, including research, fact-checking blinds, and reminding listeners that not every blind item is true.
Each week, the hosts start with a tidbit and deep-dive into 1 celebrity or public figure’s life. They pull as many blind items they can about this person and present them in chronological order, often going back to the early 2000s when blind items started.
Kelli and Troy compare the celebs’ public personas to their blind item allegations. Alesha shared she listened to the Nina Dobrev episode and asked the hosts how much grace they give to people who have made mistakes over the years.
Dax asked which “Beyond the Blinds” episode was easiest to populate with blind items. Beyoncé took the cake with over 80 pages of info to comb through when preparing episode content.
Troy loves a “messy Bella Thorne moment” and any similar celeb-based episodes. They teased what listeners will hear in their Will Smith episode.
Kelli said one of her favorite episodes was about Hollywood manager, Eric Podwall, whose clients include boy band stars and Glee cast alums. His brood of clients is called “Camp Podwall,” and over the years, there have been countless blinds.
Podwall allegedly encourages his clients to stay in the closet, and this “Beyond the Blinds” episode shares dark stories. Recently, Teen Wolf star Colton Haynes released an op-ed essay detailing a manager who put him through the wringer. Is there a connection with Podwall’s blinds and Haynes’ stories?
Lastly, the hosts shared their podcast picks. Troy loves pop culture shows like “Les Deux You Remember This?” Kelli tunes into “FluentlyForward” “Everything Iconic with Danny Pellegrino,” “Chicks in the Office,” and “My Favorite Murder with Karen Kilgariff & Georgia Hardstark.”
