‘The Jeff Richards Show’ host chats about working with Bob Saget and gives his best Jimmy Fallon impression

On this week’s episode of Podsauce, SNL and MADtv alum Jeff Richards shared some celebrity impressions and talked all about his podcast, “The Jeff Richards Show.” Alesha and Dax also shared their podcast recommendations including a technology series, a Health is Wealth podcast, and a pop culture show.

Dax shared “Comments By Celebs” for this week’s Hollypod pick. What started as an Instagram page morphed into a podcast, and the initial concept reminded Alesha of Jimmy Kimmel’s “Celebrities Read Mean Tweets” segment. This podcast breaks down pop culture news, recaps Bravo shows, and shares celebrities’ internet interactions with one another. The series is hosted by Emma Diamond and Julie Kramer, and sometimes they’re joined by guests like Kelly Ripa.

Next, Alesha shared her podcast pick and learned about the “Lex Fridman Podcast” from a seat neighbor on a recent flight. Alesha listened to the Roger Reaves episode about the notorious drug smuggler who worked for Pablo Escobar and the Medellín Cartel. This series has released over 260 episodes, each running over 2 hours on average. Elon Musk recently joined Lex Fridman for an episode. Next, Jeff Richards was interviewed by Dax and Alesha and had Podsauce rolling on the floor with his impersonations. His comedy podcast, “The Jeff Richards Show,” features guests being interviewed by “celebs” that may or may not be Jeff in character. On Podsauce, Jeff did some bits and shared that Jimmy Fallon is one his favorites to impersonate. If you tune into Jeff’s YouTube channel, you can find the deepfake video versions of his interviews, and Jeff stays in character for the whole podcast. He talked about what it was like to have one of his idols, Phil Hendrie, on the show, and how he was a major inspiration for the podcast.

Dax listened to the Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman (played by Jeff) interview where the guests comedically attack each other. Evan Ferrante nailed his Tom impersonation! Jeff surprises each guest and does not share the questions he’s going ask in advance. Alesha asked which guest would make Jeff show up to the podcast as himself and listed some personalities including Gary Busey. He shared his experience working with Bob Saget, one of the podcast’s first guests in 2020.

Jeff shared he listens to podcasts like “The Kyle Dunnigan Show,” “Bill Burr’s Monday Morning Podcast,” and “The Joe Rogan Experience.”

Lastly, Alesha shared an uplifting Health is Wealth podcast pick titled “The Happy Times.” Host Joey Kidney delves into mental health, life experiences, anxiety, depression, and more in episodes.
