Revisit the ’90s drama ‘Dawson’s Creek’ with ‘Down By The Creek’
Millennial host and self-proclaimed “novice Creeker” Alvin Williams is wading through the marsh and watching the ‘90s teen drama “Dawson’s Creek” on his podcast, “Down By The Creek.” Alvin said he has so much time on his hands, he wanted to create a show for a series he’s never watched before. “Dawson’s Creek” ran from 1998 to 2003 and it was added to Netflix this November. Since this is Alvin’s first time watching the show, he is documenting his initial takes with the podcast and breaking down the iconic series, episode by episode.
Check out “Down By The Creek” if you’re feeling nostalgic for the series, or waiting for a reboot to magically happen. The TV show was set in a fictional Massachusetts town, following a group of high school friends into college, and starring James Van Der Beek, Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson, and Michelle Williams. This show served as the launchpad for the aforementioned actors’ careers.
In episodes, listeners will learn why Alvin is convinced Dawson is a serial killer. He’ll recap cringe-filled moments, mock plot lines, and share analyses all while having fun. Alvin cracks open fanmail on the podcast and shares them in episodes and also reads some reviews the show has received. Special guests and fellow “Creekers” join Alvin in episodes.
Alvin also co-hosts the comedic, true crime podcast “Affirmative Murder.” With Francel Evans, the hosts share true crime stories from marginalized communities.
On Podsauce, Melissa from “Criminality” shared she listens to “Down By The Creek” and “Affirmative Murder.” She was a guest on “Affirmative Murder” and thinks Alvin is hilarious. Alesha admitted she has never watched Dawson’s Creek.
So far, “Down By The Creek” has released over 20 episodes. Average listening time is an hour, but there several minisodes under 10 minutes if you’re in a time crunch. Check out the first season of “Down By The Creek,” streaming now.
