Nicole Byer’s podcasting resume: the best of Nicole Byer on podcasts
We believe in Nicole Byer supremacy. We are so lucky to live in a time where Nicole has not just one, not just two, but three regular podcasts in which we can indulge. On top of that, she regularly guest hosts on a number of other podcasts. Let’s all say thank you to the reigning queen of comedy.
But, in all truthfulness, her podcasting resume is long and imposing, so we pulled the best of the best, which includes her entire discography of “Why Won’t You Date Me?”, “Best Friends”, and “Newcomers”. But, we also pulled her episodes from other podcasts she does not host! Like “Sporkful”, “Scam Goddess” and “Punch Up The Jam”. Make sure you’re alone or in a safe space where you can cackle maniacally along with Nicole. We think we absolutely nailed it with this one. Here is the best of Nicole Byer on podcasts:
Why Won’t You Date Me? with Nicole Byer
Nicole Byer is on the search for answers. Why won’t anyone date her? We’re going to assume that this has everything to do with potential suitors, and absolutely nothing about Nicole needs to change. Each week, Nicole invites a friend, comedian, and even exes on “Why Won’t You Date Me? with Nicole Byer” to talk about their love life and how to fix hers. She’s offered up a lot of private information to guests like the Tiffany Haddish, Randy Jackson, Bowen Yang and Conan O’Brien. Since 2017, Team Coco’s “Why Won’t You Date Me? with Nicole Byer” has been feeding us that sweet sweet nectar of love.
Newcomers with Nicole Byer & Jon Gabrus
Are there any cultural phenomenons that you feel just passed you by? How did you miss Lord of the Rings? We missed it too, it’s ok. But Nicole Byer and Lauren Lapkus are determined to catch those trains. In their podcast “Newcomers” by HeadGum, they dive deep into the fandoms of the biggest movies and TV shows. The newest season features guest co-host Jon Grabus while they get into Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson’s love child, The Fast and The Furious franchise. We obviously have not seen any of these movies either. So we’ll be listening along with you as Nicole and Jon make their way through all nine 1.5-hour plus car chases.
Best Friends with Nicole Byer and Sasheer Zamata
Nicole and SNL‘s Sasheer Zamata are best friends, and they are making sure you know that. From Earwolf comes “Best Friends with Nicole Byer and Sasheer Zamata”, a podcast where two best friends just chat about whatever they want. If you want a best friend, need a best friend, or are looking to replace your best friend, then look no farther. Every week, enjoy 50 minutes of pure hilarity with Nicole and Sasheer.
Punch Up The Jam
Every week, musically-inclined comedians Miel Bredouw and Demi Adejuyigbe used to take apart hit songs and reconstruct them in a hilarious parody. From the lyrics to the actual production, they rewrite the world’s greatest tunes. It’s not so easy when it comes to Cher’s Believe, though. Along with Nicole Byer, she and Demi do lots of off-key, off-tempo, off-putting singing while Miel desperately tries to deconstruct just what makes this song so good. Together, they soak up the sweet sensual atmosphere that is auto-tune. Then, Miel shows off his Frankenstein’s Monster’s reimagining of Believe. While unfortunately “Punch Up The Jam” has ended, Nicole’s episode remains atop the throne of their greatest hits.
The Sporkful
We don’t say this about many podcasts, but we wish this episode was longer. Nicole talks with “The Sporkful” host Dan Pashman about sandwiches, baking her favorite cake for her mom’s birthday and the comedy club where she got her start. She also shares a very important message about The Little Mermaid and sees a shrimp for the first time.
Couples Therapy
Andy and Naomi have known Nicole for over 10 years and this episode is just pure joy. They talk dating, sex, boundaries, and Black lady stand-up frustrations. Nicole even goes on to answer listener questions and offer advice. There’s lots of talk about poisoning and murder, so maybe don’t take her advice.
Maximum Film!
Nicole is a Ghost superfan, as well as a 90 Day Fiancé superfan. In this episode of “Maximum Film!” she shares her favorite 90 Day Fiancé moments of all time that made us want to watch the reality show. She also plays a game called ‘Swayze, Demi, or Whoopi’ that was shockingly difficult. Anyway, we love the hot mess that is the movie Ghost and Nicole’s review just makes it even better.
I Weigh with Jameela Jamil
Jameela Jamil knows how to interview. On Nicole’s episode of “I Weigh with Jameela Jamil”, they talk all about weight, exercising for fulfillment (not weight loss), Lizzo, mourning, and Nicole’s book #VERYFAT #VERYBRAVE: The Fat Girl’s Guide to Being #Brave and Not a Dejected, Melancholy, Down-in-the-Dumps Weeping Fat Girl in a Bikini. It’s meaningful, it’s authentic, it’s still very funny but not at the expense of an actual in-depth interview.
Scam Goddess
We all know we love “Scam Goddess.” Nicole joins Laci Mosely’s “con”-gregation to talk about the ultimate scammer, Jeremy Wilson. He pulled so many scams and lived so many lives, it’s a miracle that Laci and Nicole managed to talk about them all. This episode (which is also a re-release) cannot be missed. Also check out Nicole’s other episode on this podcast: “The Inventing Heiress with Nicole Byer”.
