Our favorite winners from the first-ever 2022 Sports Podcast Awards

The Sports Podcast Awards streamed on Thursday, March 31, and a ton of Podsauce favorites won some hardware! The Sports Podcast Awards celebrate the very best that the global sports community has to offer, honoring the hard-working creators and uniting the industry in the name of the best sports podcasts.

Podcasts are voted on first by a select group of some of the biggest names in sports to create a shortlist, then any active podcaster was able to cast their vote before all listeners were invited to vote on their favorite podcasts in each category. Then, in the final match-up for the grand title of Sports Podcast of the Year, the winning podcasts from each category are voted on by the Sports Podcast Group Advisory Board.

Podsauce favorites “The Fantasy Footballers” won the Big Hitters Award and were up for the Best American Football Podcast Award. Dear Media’s podcast all about the transformative 1996 Summer Olympics “Summer of Gold” was up for Best Sports Documentary Podcast. Having two Olympic Games within just a few months of each other has stacked the Best Olympic & Paralympic Podcast Award lineup with podcasts like “Keep The Flame Alive” and “My New Favorite Olympian.” Jomboy Media’s “Talkin’ Baseball” walked away with the trophy for Best Baseball Podcast, and Tina Muin’s “The Running For Real Podcast” won the Best Fitness Podcast award.

To top it all off, “Morning Kombat with Luke Thomas & Brian Campbell” won the award for Best Combat Sports Podcast along with the title of Sports Podcast of the Year.
