From The Daily Show comes “Beyond the Scenes,” a podcast pulling back the curtain on the Emmy award-winning TV series, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah. This podcast features Daily Show correspondent Roy Wood Jr., as he chats with writers, correspondents, producers, and special guests. Roy and The Daily Show‘s team will explore their comedic approach for show material when covering a vast array of topics ranging from the serious to the downright hilarious.

Roy will explain how the The Daily Show’s team of writers, correspondents, and producers broach topics like gun control, racial injustice, sex robots, therapy in the Black community, and the Karen epidemic, just to name a few.

On a recent episode of Podsauce, hosts Alesha and Dax shared “Beyond the Scenes” as a listen for fans of “The Daily Show with Trevor Noah: Ears Edition.” Both shows are based on the TV comedian and host Trevor Noah’s show, but “Beyond the Scenes” takes a further dive into creating TV content.

Guests will often join Roy to weigh in on topics. Recently, writer Padma Lakshmi spoke with The Daily Show‘s Madeleine Kuhns and Stephanie O on why restaurant staff members aren’t returning to the work force. If they’re considered essential workers, why aren’t they treated as such, the panel of guests wonder. This episode runs down a litany of issues faced by restaurant workers such as long shifts, low wages, and problem customers.

Professor Kimberlé Crenshaw and producer CJ Hunt spoke with Roy to explain Critical Race Theory. In August, musician Aloe Blacc discussed if music streaming is helping or hurting musicians. Senator Patty Murray spoke about why more women are leaving the workforce since February 2020 in an episode.

A recent episode discussed being Black in corporate America, based on Daily Show producer Chelsea Williamson’s posted questions on Instagram and the answers she received. If you’re wondering about the “Florida Man” focus of news stories we’ve been hearing, former Florida resident Roy, correspondent Desi Lydic, segment director Sebastian DiNatale, and author Craig Pittman shared their thoughts.
