This year marks the first post-pandemic Pride, with nationwide in-person events. The first episode wonders if Pride will be a party or a protest. Some city-based Pride organizations have faced backlash for buddying up to police officers and corporations. With growing anti-LGBTQ+ legislation, some activists believe Pride should get back its roots and start uprising again. In this episode, Femi is joined by podcast producer, comedian, and contributor Anddy Egan-Thorpe to examine Pride’s future.
Episode 2 honors elders and shared that LGBTQ+ seniors have higher rates of loneliness for a number of reasons. These factors include family estrangement due to their sexuality, gender identity, retirement home discrimination, and non-traditional support systems.
