When Jade was starting her production company, SickBird, she did not have many female mentors to look up to and wanted to create a platform to connect with others, share valuable information, and offer tangible advice. Jade has learned a ton along the way and shares with guests on the podcast.
Take Sarah Jenkins’ story for example, a TikTok creator and Toronto-based sports producer. Sarah shared her career trajectory, getting hired as a full-time employee after working contract gigs for Yahoo Sports, then getting publicly laid off. She regained momentum by creating her own content and was eventually hired by CBC. She went on to cover The Olympics and worked on other projects. Sarah has excellent insights from outside her 9-5 job, shared advice for transitioning your career, how she landed brand partnerships, and more.
On another episode, YouTuber and makeup artist Taylor Kingdon shared her experience creating content, working with brands, and balancing her 9-5 job. In conversation with London, a Netflix in-house entertainment lawyer and script writer, hear about attending U.C. Berkeley, managing side hustles, budgets, and how to negotiate for yourself.
“Rich Friends” is an inspirational listen for content creators and entrepreneurs. We recommend this series for fans of “StartUp Podcast” and “Fun on Weekdays.” For more with Jade, check out Podsauce’s recent episode.
