March 16, 2022

“New Mindset, Who Dis?” host Case Kenny joined Podsauce this week for an enlightening conversation on mental health and wellness. Case shared his approach to relatable topics on his self-help podcast, his sources of inspiration including Instagram, and why he believes self-awareness is one of the keys to life. Case emphasized mindfulness and shared his definition with hosts Dax and Alesha.

Alesha shared this week’s Murder Most Foul pick, “Families Who Kill: The Donut Shop Murders.” This story chronicles the notorious McCrary family that killed 20 people and evaded law enforcement for years. In the 1970s, the patriarch and son-in-law began their killing spree and found most of their victims in donut shops across America. Start the series from episode 1 to hear the chronologically chilling chain of events. Later in the podcast, audio tapes from a family member’s confession can be heard, recorded when he was serving a life sentence in Colorado.

Dax’s pick of the week is Wondery’s “Sports Wars” hosted by Sports Illustrated and SB Nation’s Dan Rubenstein. Each season unpacks different athletes’ rivalries. There are seasons covering Tyson vs. Holyfield, Tiger Woods vs. The Field, Aaron Rodgers vs. Brett Favre, and Kobe vs. Shaq. Dax listened to season 6 all about Serena vs. Venus that broke down their battles on and off the tennis court. If you’re into sports and famous feuds, this series is for you!

Next, “New Mindset, Who Dis?” host Case Kenny spoke with Dax and Alesha about his podcast with episodes on mindfulness, mental health, self-help, and development. Case is “just a guy” sharing his perspectives in relevant conversations, using culture and his own anecdotes to help others gain their own perspectives. Case told Podsauce how self-awareness helps all aspects of life including happiness, being honest with yourself, and more. Stream over 400 episodes in any order, running under 20 minutes long.

As a mental health advocate, Alesha is a huge fan of the podcast and appreciates Case’s intentionality and approach to topics. Alesha tuned into episodes including “Dating as an empath.” Dax listened to episodes titled “Healing” and “From zero to ‘baddie.'” Case shared that he’s constantly learning and finds it helpful to discuss the struggles he’s going through to share insight and what’s on his mind, where he embraces his evolving ideas and perspectives over time.

Case listens to a slew of podcasts including “On Purpose with Jay Shetty,” “The School of Greatness,” and “Impaulsive with Logan Paul.” He finds inspiration from hearing other people’s perspectives and scrolling through Instagram, and he loves learning.

Dax wrapped up the episode with an Odd Pod pick of the week for anyone looking for zen sounds to stream during cat naps or whenever you feel like winding down to ambient noise. “Relaxing White Noise” episodes are 8 hours long filled with chill tracks like crashing waves, rain falling on a car, a soothing fan, and more.
