Alan Cumming, Helen Hunt, Jonathan Bangs, and Stephanie Beatriz star in the new sci-fi, space thriller ‘SOLAR’
“SOLAR” is a scripted sci-fi series trekking through the solar system and exploring the “vastness of the human spirit” in season 1. The spacecraft’s crew members are far from Earth and stuck in different parts of the ship. After a disaster happens on board the Aethon, a manned solar research probe investigating temporal distortion around the sun, the crew fights to survive. Painful memories surface, including lost dreams, challenges, and the sheer reality of their situation. They must fight the odds and stay hopeful as the darkness is closing in.

So far, all episodes of “SOLAR” run under an hour long, complete with fully-immersive, cinematic sound design at the “edge of the audio art.” We recommend plugging in your favorite headphones when listening for the best sonic experience, since the audio sounds like it’s coming from all directions. Every answer found in “SOLAR” leads to more questions about the mission. In the pilot episode, characters Wren and Jamal are understanding the severity of their problems. We hear previously recorded audio that explains the true reason for the mission. We learn that there were 7 crew members on board, a solar flare happened, and the public was warned.
Bonus content between episodes reveal important information for listeners, such as a televised news snippet from the UK before episode 2, a broadcast interception from April 4, 2045. Next, Jamal and Wren launch the on-board rover to confirm Jamal’s claims. Clues outline past challenges that the mission faced. What will happen to the crew? Can they be rescued? We’ll have to tune in to find out.
