International Podcast Day: Celebrate the big day with some great listens

It’s the most wonderful time of the year (for us anyway)! September 30th is International Podcast Day, and we here at Podsauce have been busy collecting only the best podcasts to share with you. So here is our list, featuring podcasts from every major category.

True Crime

Dr. Death

The pinnacle of true crime, investigative podcasts, if you haven’t listened to “Dr. Death,” we’re sorry, but where have you been? The story of Christopher Duntsch has been captivating audiences since it’s release in 2018, so much so that’s it’s being made into a Peacock Original TV show. Wondery has continued to tell the stories of more “Dr. Deaths” in seasons two and three.

The Dropout

“The Dropout” definitely has an advantage with the notoriety of Elizabeth Holmes and her disgraced company, Theranos. Premiering in 2019, just four years after the start of her downfall, “The Dropout” covered everything we needed to know about the fraud she was committing. And now, the ABC News podcast is covering her trial from inside the courthouse.

News

The Daily

The New York Times “The Daily” has been a staple in the podcast world and a sometimes-hopeful, sometimes-not beacon of information since the start of the pandemic. It’s memorable opening theme sets up the story of the day: 30-minutes of the most current events in the United States. The biggest stories from the best journalists, “The Daily” has easily made it into our Top 12.

Pod Save America

Hosted by four former aides to President Obama, “Pod Save America” describes itself as “a political podcast for people who aren’t ready to give up or go insane.” An incredible news podcast with an emphasis on politics, learn everything going on in the White House and in the Capitol with Crooked Media’s “Pod Save America.”

Pardon My Take

In our sports picks comes “Pardon My Take.” The loudest sports podcast you’ll ever hear, Big Cat and PFT Commenter are sitting down three times a week to talk sports. High energy and high quality, “Pardon My Take” is the best way to catch up on the latest games.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hosts Dan Le Batard and Stugotz speak with your favorite sports stars, break down sports news, and recap all sort of pop culture news all from there perspectives. “The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz” are covering all things NFL, perfect for the start of the season.

Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend

Genuinely hilarious, “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend” is Conan at his peak. If there was ever a celebrity deserving of a podcast, the comedian/talk-show host is most deserving. Listen to him interview other celebrities in his quest to have more friends. There was no way we could leave this show out on International Podcast Day.

Smartless

Soon to be on television, “Smartless” is hosted by the incomparable Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett. The trio have interviewed people like Ryan Reynolds, Tina Fey, Will Ferrell and Tiffany Haddish, anyone with anything to say. Organically funny and authentic, “Smartless” easily makes its way into our Top 12.

Glennon Doyle, author of the the New York Times best-selling memoir Untamed, has lived by the mantra written in her book “We Can Do Hard Things.” Along with her sister, Doyle is helping others by carrying the hard so we can live life a little lighter. This is definitely one of our favorite road trip podcasts to keep everyone alert and entertained.
