Listen to ‘Celebrity Book Club with Chelsea Devantez’

Stitcher’s “Celebrity Book Club with Chelsea Devantez” highlights fierce celebrity women’s memoirs and host Chelsea unpacks their stories with guests and friends. If you love reading and celebs, this podcast is a must-listen! Chelsea’s reading list includes books from stars who have gone through the wringer, been scrutinized under the media’s microscope, trash-talked by tabloids, and made it through alive.

Chelsea loves celebs’ inspiring stories of perseverance and healing while continuing onward and forward. Sometimes the authors themselves appear on the show to dish on their work! Feel free to read along with Chelsea’s selections or tune in for book recaps if you hope to learn more from these amazing stories.

Cecily Strong’s This Will All Be Over Soon

Chelsea begins each episode by introducing her guest and tells mostly serendipitous stories about how they first met. Actress and comedian Cecily Strong joined Chelsea to chat about her book, This Will All Be Over Soon, written during the pandemic. Chelsea met Cecily when she was touring for Second City, and Chelsea came in just when Cecily was leaving the company. She also recalls Cecily’s SNL audition. They bond easily over their comedic backgrounds, shared history, and love of dogs!

Writing through quarantine

In her memoir and on the podcast, Cecily shares her struggle with pandemic-related grief, losing her close cousin, Owen, to brain cancer, and quarantining in upstate New York. While isolated and writing, Cecily’s story reads like a memoir, and she finds hope and love through the pain. Besides writing, Chelsea stars on Saturday Night Live, judges on Ru Paul’s Drag Race, will next appear on Apple TV’s Schmigadoon, among other TV and film credits!

Celeb guests like Margaret Cho and Suzanne Sommers

In June 2021, Chelsea spoke with Suzanne Sommers on her books, Three’s Company and Step-By-Step. Designer Rebecca Minkoff discussed success and staying kind in the fashion industry as elaborated in her book, Fearless.

Margaret Cho discussed her book, I’m the One That I Want with actress Joy Osmanski in Chelsea’s first-ever live podcast stream. Margaret explains the Asian-American Hollywood experience and taking a stand with your opinions.

Liz Phair’s Horror Stories, Celine Dion’s My Story, My Dream, and more

Besides the authors appearing on “Celebrity Book Club with Chelsea Devantez,” Chelsea invites friends and guests to speak about memoirs they’re inspired by. Katie Rich stopped by the podcast to explore Liz Phair’s Horror Stories. In the Heights’ Stephanie Beatriz dove into Celine Dion’s memoir, My Story, My Dream. In a recent episode, authors Jen Spyra (The Late Show with Stephen Colbert) and Andrea Barber (Full House) shared tips on how to write a book.

There’s an excellent AMA episode, where Chelsea answers fans’ questions and discusses her beginnings in comedy, working with Tina Fey, and more.

In addition to hosting, Chelsea is a comedian, filmmaker, and is the head writer for Apple TV’s The Problem with Jon Stewart. Check out Chelsea’s Instagram stories for updates on the books she’s reading in between podcast episode releases. New episodes of “Celebrity Book Club with Chelsea Devantez” are released weekly.
