Radio host, podcast royalty (literally), and cultural catalyst Charlamagne Tha God’s Black Effect Podcast Network has shows with some of the most iconic Black voices today. We’re rounding up some of our favorite podcasts from his popular network of important, hilarious, and uplifting shows.
On this list are pods that have been featured on Podsauce before like the hosts of “The Trap Nerds,” to podcasts that have gotten shout outs from some of our other guests like “Earn Your Leisure” and “Drink Champs.” From NBA legends Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson on “All The Smoke” to the completely uncensored “WHOREible Decisions,” here are some of Podsauce’s favorite podcasts from the Black Effect Podcast Network.
Tha God’s Honest Truth
From Comedy Central and the Black Effect Network, “Tha God’s Honest Truth” is the late-night podcast tackling the social issues that are permeating politics and culture. Lenard “Charlamagne Tha God” McKelvey hosts this extraordinary and thought-provoking podcast, discussing topics like capitalism, the second amendment (and how it pertains to both Black and white people), modern relationships, veteran homelessness, the FBI’s and J. Edgar Hoover’s legacy, and more.
All The Smoke
NBA stars, friends, and competitors Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson host their basketball podcast “All The Smoke.” Over the course of their hour-long episodes, the two discuss the latest news coming out of the NBA, analyze games, dish on the drama off the court, and sit down with incredible guests like the WNBA’s Sabrina Ionescu, 2 Chainz, and Cordae.
Rapper N.O.R.E. and hip-hop pioneer DJ EFN host “Drink Champs,” a podcast all about the biggest names and news in music, entertainment, and culture. Filled with never-before-heard stories from people like Kanye West, Busta Rhymes, and the late DMX, “Drink Champs” shines a light on the lost stories of hip-hop.
The Trap Nerds Podcast
You may recognize “The Trap Nerds Podcast” from their episode with Dax and Alesha here on Podsauce! The four hosts talk all things “nerdy,” from comic books and anime to gaming and science fiction. They also debate about their fair share of Marvel movies, too. It’s all Black nerd culture all the time on “The Trap Nerds Podcast.”
