Since Podsauce launched in July 2021, Alesha and Dax have hosted some excellent interviews and discovered hundreds of amazing podcasts. While it’s tricky to select our favorites from the year (because, honestly, all of them rock in their own way), we’ve rounded up 5 outstanding episodes. The Podsauce team thoroughly enjoyed learning about our guests, their podcasts, and what they’re listening to.

Steve Kerr

Head coach Steve Kerr stopped by Podsauce to dish on his career, which Golden State Warrior would host the best podcast, and why he tunes into “SmartLess.” Did you know Steve is an OG podcaster who hosted “Awful Announcing” in 2014? Now, Steve co-hosts “Flying Coach” with Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll. In this interview with Alesha and Dax, we learned that Steve is interested in starting future podcasts covering golf, baseball, cooking, or current events.

Spider One

Powerman 5000’s frontman, Spider One, hosts the horror fiction podcast “Bleeders DIEgest.” In this episode, Spider One told Dax and Alesha about why his series is unique amongst other podcasts in the genre. He explained how inspirational it is to collaborate with fellow horror fans and podcasters Trevor and Lauren Shand and Krsy Fox, and talked about growing up with his brother, Rob Zombie. In addition to collaborating on the podcast’s stories, we learned that Spider One voices many characters in the episodes.

Lisa Lampanelli

Dax’s old friend, Lisa Lampanelli, stopped by Podsauce to chat about how she teamed up with two aspiring comedians on the podcast, “Losers with a Dream.” Lisa reminisced on roasting Dax over the years. Lisa had Dax and Alesha rolling on the floor for this interview as she shared about her career and whether she would return to comedy again. She also discussed her personal transformation, reclaiming happiness, and her life after retirement. This interview was so fabulous, so we released an extended version.

You Better You Bet

Audacy’s “You Better You Bet” hosts Nick Kostos and Ken Barkley shared how their sports betting podcast has grown since its first episodes in 2019. Nick and Ken pioneer in podcasting with “wagertainment,” mixing sports analyses, humor, and entertainment with gambling and sports commentary. The hosts are such a riot, we had to release the extended version of the interview, which we totally recommend.

Phil Chalmers

This episode was one of Podsauce’s spookier interviews. We learned about “Where the Bodies are Buried” host Phil Chalmers and how he “befriends” incarcerated serial killers, where they often expose details of their crimes on the podcast. Sometimes, this new information leads to where the bodies are buried, as the podcast’s title suggests. In this interview, Phil told Alesha and Dax who his dream podcast guests would be, and why his goals are to help people and solve crimes.
